A Journey from Boardrooms to Handlooms
From Corporate Boardrooms to the World of Handwoven Dreams
My journey began in Bangalore at Mount Carmel College, where I completed my education and stepped into the corporate world at the age of 20.
I built my career in Marketing and Sales, and later gained experience in Training and Development. The corporate world taught me professionalism, leadership, and resilience. But with time, the long hours and constant pressure left me with very little time for what mattered the most — my family.
Somewhere deep inside, I felt I was working tirelessly, but not truly fulfilling my own dreams.
One day, my daughter asked me a simple yet powerful question:
“You work so hard for others… but what are you doing for us?”
That moment changed my perspective completely.
Coming from a family of traditional weavers, textiles had always been part of my roots. I decided to reconnect with that heritage and explored my passion further by learning fashion technology.
I began meeting many weavers — including members of my own extended family — to understand their lives, their craft, and their struggles. I saw extraordinary talent, but I also saw the harsh reality: many artisans were not receiving the recognition or value they deserved.
That experience touched my heart deeply.
Leaving the comfort of a corporate career was not easy. The journey was filled with doubts, struggles, rejections, and moments when people did not value the effort behind handcrafted textiles.
There were times when customers looked only for heavy discounts, without understanding the passion and hard work woven into every saree.
Over time, I realized something important — only a few women truly appreciate the beauty and soul of handloom.
So I made a decision:
I would dedicate my journey to finding and serving those women who genuinely love and respect handcrafted textiles.
From curating every saree to building this website, every step of Gruhini Silks has been personally nurtured by Sunitha.

Today, Gruhini Silks and Sarees is more than a saree store. It is my heartfelt effort to celebrate India’s weaving heritage, support skilled artisans, and bring timeless handcrafted sarees to women who value authenticity and culture.
Every saree here carries a story — of tradition, craftsmanship, and the dreams of the hands that created it.
